The Ambassador

JPEG Mr. Denys Gauer, 62, a career diplomat, was appointed Ambassador of France to Nigeria in April 2015.
He previously held numerous positions within the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, including that of Minister-Counsellor in Moscow (1996-1999), Ambassador to Guinea and to Sierra Leone (2000-2003), Ambassador in charge of Environment and Sustainable Development (2003-2006), Ambassador to Jordan (2006-2009), Secretary General in charge of the Conference on Access to civil nuclear energy (2009-2011), Ambassador to Iraq (2011-2014) and Special Envoy for Libya (2014-2015).

Mr. Gauer is a graduate of the Institut d’études politiques of Strasbourg and of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration.
