The 6th Edition of the French Education Fair in Nigeria
The 6th Edition of the French Education fair, organized by the French Embassy and Campus France, held in Abuja on the 12th of February at the National Universities Commission NUC and the Institut Français and in Lagos on the 14th of February at the Lycée français Louis Pasteur.
This year, the Abuja Fair incorporated an institutional forum in order to discuss the following topics:
- How to improve the mobility of students and professionals
- How to establish inter-university agreements
- How to organize institutional cooperation
After a speech given by the French Ambassador, Mr. Denys Gauer, the different French and Nigerian institutions had a chance to discuss the selected topics. Also present were a number of vice-chancellors of federal, state and private universities in Nigeria as well as scholarship providers like PTDF (Petroleum Technology Development Fund) and TETFUND (Tertiary Education Trust Fund). After the discussions, the representatives of the French institutions had a chance present their programs on offer to about 60 students in attendance.
The second part of the Fair which held in Lagos at the Louis Pasteur French School, saw the participation of the same French institutions as in Abuja, namely: Centrale Nantes, SciencesPo Paris, Université Grenoble Alpes, Brest Business School, Montpellier Business School, Paris School of Business and EPITA. However also present were the Lycée Français (where the event held), Alliance Française, IFRA (French Institute for African Research), Campus France and PTDF.
The event recorded a turnout of about 380 people comprising students, parents and professionals, all in search of advice to help tham choose institutions and programs that best suited their needs and academic goals.
The Consul General, Mr. Laurent Polonceaux, during his speech at the event, thanked the French Institutions for coming and also stressed the myriad of opportunities that France offers in the area of Higher Education and encouraged more Nigerians to study in France.
