Scientific presentations by IFRA researchers : May to August 2016

In the coming months, researchers from the French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA) Nigeria, based within the University of Ibadan, will speak in several international conferences:

Dr. Xavier Moyet, social anthropologist and scientific director of IFRA, will present on May 7 at Barnard College a communication untitled « Lagos-Ibadan Express Way: A Tentative Ethnography of the Religious Activity Along The Infrastructure, 2005-2016 », within the framework of the international conference « Lagos, from the Pepperfarm to the Megacity : A Interdisciplinary Conference on Space, Society and the Imagination of an African Crossroad », organised by Saheed Aderinto (Western Carolina University), Abosede George (Barnard College/Columbia University) and Ademide Adelusi-Adeluyi (University of California, Riverside) : https://nyclagosconference2016.wordpress.com/

Dr. Emilie Guitard, anthropologist and researcher for IFRA, will present on June 1 in Dakar a communication untitled «Y aura-t-il des mangues à Noël? Percevoir les changements environnementaux à travers la biodiversité urbaine à Hwange (Zimbabwe) », within the framework of the international conference « Innovation, Transformation and Sustainable Futures in Africa », organised by the American Anthropological Association, the African Studies Association, the CODESRIA and the WARA WARC : http://africanstudies.org/dakar-2016

Dr. Guitard will then present another communication in Paris on June 13 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, untitled « Entre gestion municipale et usages sorcellaires des déchets : les institutions face aux «sorciers couverts d’ordures » (Cameroun) », within the framework of the international conference « Face à la sorcellerie », organised to close the ANR program « L’État et les institutions face à la sorcellerie dans l’Afrique contemporaine. Violence, justice et droits de l’Homme » (EInSA 2012-2016) », by Sandra Fancello (CNRS-IMAF), Julien Bonhomme (LAS) and André Mary (IIAC).

At last, Héloïse Lucaccioni, Ph.D student in Geography and International Volunteer for IFRA, will present also on June 1 in Dakar a communication untitled « Transformations territoriales et nouvelles vulnérabilités au risque infectieux : les marges sud-est du Sénégal face à ses dynamiques récentes », within the framework of the conference « Innovation, Transformation and Sustainable Futures in Africa ».
