The French and Canadian diplomatic representations organized a training workshop on gender mainstreaming in Abuja on June 6th, 2018. Ten Nigerian civil society organizations took part in this event.
The whole-day event, opened by Mr. Arnaud Dornon, Head of Cooperation of the French Embassy, and Ms. Nancy Bergeron, Chargée d’Affaires of the Canadian High Commission, was moderated by an independent consultant and the NGO Save the Children. The twenty participants operating across a wide range of sectors (child protection, conflict resolution, governance ...) were given the chance to explore a number of issues crucial to development actors. The participants provided project holders with knowledge and tools for the application of Gender-based Analysis in the design, implementation and monitoring of their activities.
This initiative complements the support provided by the French Embassy to beneficiaries of the PISCCA program (Innovative Projects for Civil Societies and Coalitions of Actors), a financing instrument devoted to capacity-building. Out of the twenty participants, eight attended on behalf of PISCCA-funded organisations.
