French speaking countries celebration in Abuja
Organised by a committee composed by the embassies of Czech Republic, Mali, Canada, Burkina-Faso, France, Switzerland, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Democratic Republic of Congo, about 300 people came to the 10 days "Francophonie" festival.
From 11 to 18 March 2016, each evening featured a cultural event from one of these countries: film screenings, concerts, discussion panel…
On Saturday 19 March, the Institut Français partner schools showcased their talents in French language through singing, theatre, poetry and spelling competitions. Pupils also had the opportunity to discover the library and e-learning centre of the Institut Français. From 1pm, the public enjoyed the gastronomy of the participating countries, gathering in an international Food Fair.
The day ended with a closing ceremony, a cocktail and a concert by the Lagos-based singer Aduke and the SSV Band.
