French-speaking celebration at the Alliance Française of Port-Harcourt

The French-speaking week at Alliance Francaise Port Harcourt in 2016 was celebrated in two stages.

The first event was a concert organized on Saturday 12th March, 2016
where an audience of 200 people was treated to three (3) hours of
delightful show.

In the course of this evening hosted by a Beninese music group, titles
of many African Francophone countries were relived for the greatest
pleasures of these communities that were present: Mali, Cameroon, Benin,
Togo, Ivory-Coast, Guinea Conakry and Niger.
A Nigerian female singer also interpreted popular Nigerian songs in
French and students of Alliance Francaise as well did the Malian songs
that they had hitherto learned at a choral workshop.

The second highlight was a day dedicated to partner schools. Eight of
these schools responded to our invitation among which was also the
French School (École Total) totaling 93 students and 20 teachers who met
on April 19, 2016 at Alliance Francaise.
The theme for the day was "Let’s Play in French.” The programme included
presentations of a song/poem/theater by each school followed by a picnic
in the gardens. The children aged 6 to 11 years who also clashed,
collaborated in
teams were encouraged in French during sports games but also during one
of the Riddle games.

Four hours of fun that, hopefully on one hand strengthened the desire of
Nigerian children to learn our language and on the other hand,
allowed a moment of Intercultural unity.

Thank you, and welcome back next year !
