Training for French language teachers in Abuja and Ibadan
The French embassy, in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise and the Centre for French Teaching and Documentation (CFTD), has been working to promote proficiency in the language among French teachers. It is with this objective in mind that the French Embassy arranged 2 training sessions in Abuja and Ibadan between the 22nd of October and the 2nd of November as part of a 2-year long program.
The Abuja session held at the Institut Français from the 22nd to the 26th of October while the Ibadan session took place at the Alliance Française from the 29th of October to the 2nd of November for a total of 30 teachers from Colleges of Education, Universities and Alliance Française in both states.
The training program is aimed at:
- Capacity building in language and didactics for French lecturers in Colleges of Education
- Improving the skills in didactics and French for specific purpose for lecturers in Universities and Polytechnics.
- Creating and submitting some pedagogical materials to authorities in Education, adapted to student’s needs.
An added benefit of the program is that the skills gained from the trainings are easily transferrable to other teachers who did not participate in the program.
The trainings were carried out in collaboration with the 3 Centers for French training and Documentation in Ibadan, Enugu and Jos.
The trainings in Abuja and Ibadan were conducted by Ms. Martine Darchelet and Ms. Anne-Lyse Dubois respectively, both of whom are from the Alliance Francaise, Paris, France.
