Dancing Cities comes to Abuja!

The “Dancing Cities” concept was initiated in 2015 by the world renowned Nigerian choreographer and dancer Qudus Onikeku.

In partnership with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Abuja, the Q-Dance Centre and the Krump Dance Studios, the 5th edition of Dancing Cities took place at the Institut Français du Nigeria on May 14th. More than 50 dancers, either in group or solo, competed for a 5 days masterclass with Qudus Onikeku.

About 70 people gathered to enjoy the performances of the young dancers who were coming from Abuja and Kaduna. Hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, modern Nigerian dancing… all styles were represented. 16 dancers and choreographers were selected for the masterclass, which will take place from June 27th to July 1st.

This masterclass will follow the première of Qudus Onikeku’s latest contemporary dance production, “We Almost Forgot”, in Abuja on June 26th. More information on: institutfrancais-nigeria.com.
